Christmas Greetings from Scantrol and Scantrol Deep Vision
Every year, Scantrol and Scantrol Deep Vision give a Christmas donation to a project close to our heart. Last Christmas, we supported the organization Our Children Learning (OCL) which works to build schools and welfare in Maïrom in the area of Kokaga in Tchad. The extraordinary results they have achieved since then make it even more joyful to contribute again this year.
Tchad is one of the least developed countries in the world, and Kokaga one of the least developed areas in this country. People in the area have a life expectancy of between 40 and 50 years and 99,5% of the population are unable to read and write.
In 2023, Our Children Learning, with the help of Bergen-based companies and organizations, financed six wells supplying 6000 of 7000 people with clean drinking water. In addition, 900 pupils who have never owned a pen or paper before, now go to school and have their own school supplies. Three new schools have been built in the villages connected with the main school in Maïron, that opened in 2022. New teachers have been employed and a village built to house them, and a local nurse is being educated to take on the job for the people in the area.
The work is organized and financed from Norway, with Ousmane Kabo as the leader of the efforts in the area where he grew up. Jarle Lysebo is also instrumental in the work from Norway, whilst locals in Maïron put in their own efforts to build and run the schools.
“Everyone in the local community has worked together to get this school up and going and now almost all the parents are sending their children to school. This is unique compared to other schools in Tchad,” explains Jarle.
As our valued customer, partner or associate in any way, the contribution to Our Children Learning is made on your behalf. We encourage you to make your Christmas contribution meaningful this year and support OCL and the fantastic work they are doing for the community of Maïrom.
